A new adventure in Hallownest awaits
Hollow Knight: Silksong is the highly anticipated sequel to Team Cherry's acclaimed Metroidvania, Hollow Knight. In this sequel, players assume the role of Hornet, the agile princess-protector of Hallownest, as she ascends through the mysterious and perilous kingdom of Pharloom. The game retains its unique Metroidvania vibe with action-packed sequences, great soundtrack, and 2D indie visuals.
Originally planned as DLC for the first game, Hollow Knight: Silksong evolved into a full-fledged sequel, promising enriched gameplay mechanics, intricate level designs, and a hauntingly beautiful aesthetic that expands upon its predecessor's legacy.
Stories untold, kingdoms reborn, and challenges untackled
Hollow Knight: Silksong introduces an acrobatic playstyle through Hornet, who wields her needle and thread to traverse the environment and combat over 150 new enemy types, including challenging bosses. Exploration follows the Metroidvania formula, with areas unlocked through new abilities and rewarding backtracking. A revamped healing mechanic allows Hornet to restore health instantly while moving, adding dynamic options to combat. However, the combat remains challenging which can be daunting for some.
In addition, the game’s return to Hallownest not only delivers a familiar experience but also adds to its already breathtaking world with new kingdoms to explore, new rare beasts to hunt down, and ancient mysteries to solve. The crafting system, enabling players to create traps and tools from enemy materials, further deepens gameplay. While the gameplay is new, it doesn’t add any more to the first game.
Set in the intricate and lush kingdom of Pharloom, the game features new environments, NPCs, and quests that enrich the lore. A refined quest-tracking journal aids players in managing side objectives. The narrative is subtly conveyed through environmental storytelling and NPC dialogue, maintaining the enigmatic tone of the original. The visuals and soundtrack uphold Team Cherry's reputation for creating immersive worlds, with enhancements that distinguish the game.
A refined and expansive return to Hallownest
Hollow Knight: Silksong builds on its predecessor's legacy with refined mechanics, breathtaking environments, and an engaging new protagonist. The dynamic combat and exploration systems create a fresh yet familiar Metroidvania experience. While it introduces new features like crafting and improved traversal, some may find it less innovative compared to the original. Nevertheless, its captivating design and rich lore promise an unforgettable journey through Pharloom.
